Bishop Michael Morrissey nominates 2026 ICCI Conference Representative |
|
The 2nd International Conference on Catholic Indigenous (ICCI), comprising the representative countries of New Zealand, Canada, United States and Australia, will be gathering in Auckland, New Zealand, in March 2026. The Conference’s official programme will run from Monday – Friday , 2-6 March, with the theme Atua-Tangata-Whenua-Moana (God-People-Land-Sea), with participants focusing on enhancing ministry to Indigenous Catholics. Approximately 50 delegates from the four nations are anticipated to attend, one of which will be from our own Diocese of Geraldton. Bishop Michael, who is unfortunately not able to attend the Conference, has nominated Cecilia Kelly from Mount Magnet to represent, not only the diocese, but the wider Western Australia Indigenous peoples of Faith along with two other WA representatives. Bishop Michael stated, “Cecilia will be an excellent representative as she will bring to the gathering her perspective and experience of living remotely in the diocese and being an active member of St Brigid’s Parish in Mt Magnet”. Cecilia, who has never travelled overseas before, said she was ‘very excited and very grateful for such a beautiful blessing’. It is even better that she will not be travelling alone but will be travelling with the Broome and Perth representatives, Shirley Quaresimin and Andrea Lewis respectively. |
